Along comes the Renaissance. With the Renaissance comes Joachim du Bellay. He's sent to Italy, hates it, and spends hundreds of pages whining about how he wants to go back to France. These pages will become the bane of Gina's exam existence many years in the future. But really, lots of people went to Italy, France decided (after trying to conquer Italy, getting their king taken hostage, and realizing that this wasn't their best idea ever) it should be like Italy, and people wrote poems.
